The Compass Series
About us
We’re an independent publisher of plain-English life-navigation guides — built on a simple observation: every year, an enormous number of grieving people are handed the executor’s job with no training, no map, and an internet split between $300-an-hour answers and scare advertising.
What we make
Structured, self-paced educational guides — including The Executor’s Compass, the first-90-days map for settling an estate, organized by timeline because that’s how the job actually arrives. Every guide ships with working tools — the Estate Binder System, the Notifications Tracker, the Professional Visit Playbook — because understanding is half the job; the other half is walking into every appointment organized, with the right questions written down.
How we work
Everything we publish is grounded in sources the professionals themselves use: IRS.gov, the Social Security Administration’s survivor pages, CFPB and FTC consumer guidance, American Bar Association consumer resources, and the county probate court self-help centers we route readers to throughout. Probate is state law, and we say so constantly — our guides are the national map; the local one belongs to your county, and we teach you how to read it.
What we are not
We are educators, not a law firm — and emphatically not a lawyer-avoidance product. Our materials never give legal, tax, or financial advice, contain no state forms and no filing instructions, and never claim you don’t need an attorney. Every page points toward the licensed professionals and official resources that own the decisions — with you arriving prepared, which is the whole point.
